The Breakup Shopping List

By Erin Deborah Waks

A heart-shaped cake tin, for perfecting the art of baking for myself.

A new pink top, because what else am I going to wear on dates?

Painting supplies, for the creative inspiration that seems to be seeping back into my bones.

Sabrina Carpenter’s new album on vinyl, for remembering that I, too, am perfectly Short ‘n Sweet.

New exceptionally girly underwear that he’ll never see, one pair saying ‘spicy’ on the back and another set with leopard print in a variety of shades.

A giant pillow to take up all the room on the right side of the bed.

The sexiest pair of leopard-print pyjama shorts, for lounging around in my apartment binge watching Sex And The City with my best friend.

A new eyeliner, for once I’ve dried my eyes after five minutes of crying in the parking lot.

A new notebook, because I used the one he bought me to write all about him.

A bookmark. Because now I have even more time to read novels.

A new book, preferably from one of those intellectual female writers I love, preferably not written this century, preferably with an aesthetic minimalist cover.

A giant matcha latte the size of my head. Because a girl needs her energy if she’s going to carry all those shopping bags.

Pink fluffy socks. For absolutely no reason at all.
